- The Dominant Dog is a term that we "borrowed" from Liberty University -Head wrestling coach, Jesse Castro, he uses to remind us to be the -aggressor. We have -decided to make this a weekly award to the wrestler -who wrestles aggressively, wins his first match, works hard in practice, -wrestles well, and shows good character. Week One - (No Photo) - Week one winner in the experienced youth group is Keegan Parrish. -Keegan won his group at the JF Tournament by pinning all three of his -opponents. He wrestled aggressively, executed some nice takedowns, -and finished off his opponents with good pinning combinations. Keegan -has been working hard in the early season practices and his hard work -has paid off with a gold medal this past Saturday (Dec. 6). -Week one winner in the novice youth group is Dalton Whitt. Dalton is a -first year wrestler who has learned a lot in a hurry. He has a natural feel -for the sport and performed admirably in his debut on the mat. Dalton -took -1st place in our JF tournament by shooting some impressive -takedowns -for a 1st year wrestler and also executing some nice stand up -escapes. -He earned his gold medal by hanging on to beat fellow Forest -wrestler, Christian Hart, 10 - 7, in a nail biter in which Dalton fought off a -pinning combination by Christian as time expired! Week Two - Week two Dominant Dog is Blake Justis for the experienced youth. Blake -has taken first place in the first two tournaments. At Brookville He -wrestled three very technically sound matches and did not make any -mistakes that his opponents could take advantage of. Never having trailed -in any of his matches, Blake executed a text book crossface cradle for a -pin. - The Dominant Dog award for the novice youth goes to first year wrestler -Brian Crouch. Brian won his first ever match at Brookville with an exciting -one point win with a reverse and near fall and was within millimeters of -getting his first pin. Breaking in as a 6th grader is no easy task since many -of his opponents are more experienced. But Brian continues to have a -great attitude and doesn't let the losses get him down. He is working hard -in practice and that will pay off in the long run. |
