There is no substitute for guts.  - Bear Bryant

There is no substitute for hard work. - Thomas Edison

We will either find a way, or make one. - Hannibal

Toughness is in the soul and the spirit...not in the muscles.

It's not whether you get knocked down...it's whether you get up.
                                                                   - Vince Lombardi
It's not the will to win, but the will to prepare to win that counts.
                                                                   - Bear Bryant

Where you start and where you finish are not as important as how far
you went and how hard you worked to get there.
:: Our Philosophies ::
:: Jefferson Forest Cavaliers Wrestling ::
Our philosophies are simple.  We want student athletes first
and foremost. Not everyone is an "A" student, but you have
to get acceptable grades to compete.  We want our athletes
to exhibit the qualities of class and character...anything less
will not be tolerated.
Our athletes will be taught to respect their opponents.  Our
athletes will be taught to beat on, punish, and abuse their
opponents within the rules, but we will respect them.
Showing poor sportsmanship will not be tolerated. JF
athletes will show respect and courtesy to fellow athletes,
fans, family, coaches, referees, tournament authorities, cats,
dogs, and in general.
On the mat, we don't just want to beat you...we want to beat
you up.  JF wrestling is based on brutality within the rules.
Wrestling by nature is a brutal sport...if you can't take large
amounts of pain then don't get on the mat with us. We may
not always win, but I guarantee you won't want to wrestle us
a second time.

                       The Wrestler's Prayer

Father, thank You that I may wrestle...it is a glorious thing I
do.  I ask that You grant me the heart of a lion, the strength
of a bear, to strike as a cobra, and the courage to soar where
only eagles dare.  May I be humble in victory, gracious in
defeat...may I never be ashamed of You, and You ever proud
of me.
                                        Amen.
